A first facial isn’t just a service — it’s the start of a relationship between you, your skin, and your skin therapist. The single most important thing happening at your first appointment isn’t the products or the techniques. It’s the conversation. Here’s the entire flow at Beauty Therapy by Chanel so you know exactly what to expect when you walk in.
Before your appointment
Book online (24/7) or text the studio. We’ll send a quick intake form covering your current skincare routine, any active products (retinols, exfoliants, prescriptions), allergies, sensitivities, and what you’d most like to address. The more specific you are, the better the first visit.
Day-of: arrive with clean skin if possible — a gentle cleanse only, no heavy makeup. Skip retinol and acids for the 48 hours leading up to your appointment so the skin isn’t over-sensitized.
Step 1 — The skin consultation
Every first appointment begins with a thorough skin analysis under proper lighting, sometimes with a magnification lamp. We talk through what you see in the mirror, what you wish were different, and what your current routine actually involves. This is the moment we calibrate. The same client could leave with three completely different treatment plans depending on what comes up here.
Step 2 — Customized cleanse and exfoliation
A double cleanse to remove the day, followed by an exfoliation tailored to your skin’s tolerance — could be enzyme, gentle acid, or manual depending on your barrier health. The goal isn’t intensity. It’s the right intensity for you.
Step 3 — Steam, extractions, and treatment
Warm steam softens the skin and prepares it for any needed extractions. Extractions are done only where appropriate — never aggressively. Then we move into the active phase: serums, masks, LED light therapy, or device work, again chosen based on what your skin showed during analysis.
Step 4 — Massage and nervous-system reset
Most facials in this studio include extended therapeutic massage. This isn’t filler time. Lymphatic drainage and circulation work meaningfully change how your skin looks and feels — and the parasympathetic shift this puts your body into is part of the result.
Step 5 — Home-care plan
Before you leave, we walk through what to do (and what to skip) for the next 48 hours, then talk about your at-home routine going forward. You’ll never leave with a stack of products you don’t need. You will leave with a clear plan and a recommendation of what to prioritize first.
