Brow Lamination: What It Is, How Long It Lasts, and Who It’s For

Brow lamination gives you the brushed-up, fuller-looking brows you see in editorial campaigns — without microblading. Here’s the honest breakdown.

Brow lamination is the treatment behind almost every editorial brow you’ve seen in the last few years — that brushed-up, fluffy, fuller-than-natural finish. It’s also one of the most flattering brow services we offer, especially for clients who don’t want a permanent procedure like microblading.

What brow lamination actually is

Brow lamination is a chemical service that temporarily restructures the bond pattern of your brow hairs so they can be set in a new direction. The process uses a setting solution to relax the hair, then a fixing solution to hold it in the new shape. We follow with a nourishing oil or serum so the hairs aren’t left feeling brittle.

The result: brows brushed up and out, fuller-looking, with sparse areas filled in by hairs that previously grew downward. We typically pair lamination with shaping (waxing or tweezing) and brow tinting in the same appointment so you leave with the complete look.

How long it lasts

Most clients get 6 to 8 weeks of effect, with the brushed-up shape gradually relaxing as new hairs grow in. The brows never “snap back” to their old shape — they fade out gracefully. Lamination can be repeated as often as every 6–8 weeks, but most clients stretch to 8–10 weeks to keep the brows healthy.

Who it’s ideal for

  • Brows that grow downward or have flat, unruly hair patterns.
  • Sparse brows where lifting the existing hairs creates the visual coverage of more density.
  • Clients who want a fuller editorial look without microblading.
  • Anyone tired of brow gel as a daily styling step — laminated brows hold their shape on their own.

Who should skip it

  • Active rosacea or eczema in the brow area.
  • Recent waxing within 48 hours (we wax during the appointment, not before).
  • Brows that are already very thick and well-behaved without help — lamination can over-shape what’s already perfect.
  • Pregnancy or nursing, depending on individual sensitivity (always disclose ahead of booking).

Aftercare for the first 24 hours

  • Keep the brows dry — no water, no sweat, no steam.
  • No makeup or skincare on or around the brows.
  • Don’t touch or brush them. The bond is still setting.

Long-term care

Brush them up each morning with a clean spoolie. Apply a brow conditioning oil (castor or a specific brow serum) at night to keep the hair healthy between treatments. Avoid harsh exfoliants or strong actives directly on the brows for 48 hours after the appointment.

Common questions

When performed by a trained professional with appropriate timing and a properly conditioning aftercare regimen, brow lamination is safe for most brows. Damage comes from over-processing (leaving the solution on too long) or doing the treatment too frequently — both of which we avoid by spacing appointments at least 6 weeks apart.
